Description
Flowcoat, also known as finish coat or topcoat is a thickened pigmented resin offering a hard wearing, sealing coat. Flowcoats contain a low percentage of wax, which is not really soluble in the gelcoat and floats to the surface. This blocks out the air and ensures a full surface cure, eg not tacky.
Flow coat is commonly used for finishing, repair work to gelcoat and for mixing with fillers for bogging/fairing. Both white and neutral flowcoats are Polyester based and require M.E.K.P Catalyst to cure.
Please note: if using a mould then it is Gelcoat that is normally applied to a mould surface then laid up on as it will not be exposed air when curing, and acheives a fully cured finish once released from the mould.
Flowcoat comes in white, or neutral which is unpigmented/uncoloured and is to be used when making coloured flowcoats. Flowcoat is best applied brushed or rolled to get adequate thickness coverage.
